美式快餐连锁店Subway宣布，停止在面包内使用制作橡胶鞋底用的化学成分「偶氮二甲醯胺」（Azodicarbonamide）。 英国《每日邮报》周五报导，除了Subway，麦当劳、Burger King、肯德基家乡鸡等连锁店製作的食物中，部分也含有偶氮二甲醯胺，上述快餐店尚未回应报导。

国际知名潜艇堡业者于2012年，被发现在面包中加入了制作橡胶鞋底和瑜伽垫的化学成分偶氮二甲醯胺。一位美国美食部落客同年开始关注这个议题，并在今年发起连署，至今已有6万7000人签署。

Subway周四宣布：尽管美国食品药物管理局（FDA）是核淮使用偶氮二甲醯胺的，但他们以后不会在面包中用此成份。

据台湾《苹果日报》报导，亚太区Subway表示，台湾、香港两地的麵包原料已确定是从纽西兰进口，成分与澳洲、欧盟等地相同，并不含偶氮二甲醯胺添加剂。

偶氮二甲醯胺在美国是合法添加物，但在欧盟、澳洲是被禁用的，且它也用于制作橡胶鞋底和瑜伽垫。偶氮二甲醯胺用于製作麵包的目的，是让麵团增加弹性。
