週二晚，距離倒數迎新年活動不到5分鐘時，吉隆坡市長阿末菲沙即上台致詞，他除了呼吁集會者勿干擾參加倒數活動的外國遊客，同時還指活動本來和平進行，但卻有一小撮人搗亂，接著，他也要求集會者勿情緒化，以致破壞國家和諧。結果，當他祝賀民眾“salam satu malaysia”及新年快樂時，即被集會者喝倒彩，並一再叫他“Turun”，這時，Turun成了一個巧妙的雙關詞，即民眾一方面叫他下台，另一方面也叫他讓物價下降，過後，他唯有在尷尬的情況下，狼狽離場。據悉，聯邦直轄區部長東姑安南早前也因為看到現場群情洶湧，而提早離席。
