今年开学日，约20名海港泰米尔小学的学生因拒绝迁入位于甘榜林通岸的新校舍，遂引起各界关注。但教育部副部长卡玛拉纳登强调，海港学校并没有被关闭，全国泰米尔小学的数量依旧维持523所。

“我要提醒各界，勿再散播假新闻，学校并没有关闭，而是搬迁。”

既然如此，为什么海港泰米尔小学的家长、校友以及非政府组织等，还要展开“拯救”海港泰米尔小学的行动？
