政府虽欲催谷吉隆坡人口，但据国家统计局调查显示，贵为大马一国之都的吉隆坡，却成为过境不留人之处，居民纷纷外迁至其他州属。
据该局推出的《2011年大马人口迁移调查报告书》指出，若以「迁移效率」来计算，在吉隆坡每100名流动人口中，不论是迁入或迁出吉隆坡，都会流失41人。
大马人为何迁移？又迁移至何处呢？
