马华总会长蔡细历与前总会长翁诗杰势不两立，此乃众所周知。大选来临之际，《中国报》爆料说，蔡细历的意愿是不让翁诗杰出战，今天在主持中委会议时才蔡细历更放狠话说，如果让翁诗杰上阵，他就辞职不当马华总会长！摆到明：有他无我！
除此之外，马华多名资深的国会议员，都将不获党的推荐上阵，除了翁诗杰还包括：总秘书兼交通部长江作汉、副总会长兼旅游部长黄燕燕。
